FARMINGTON HILLS — The Farmington Hills Police Department announced Oct. 22 that Dr. Zvi Levran had been arrested and charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The charges were the result of a criminal complaint filed by a 19-year-old male following a medical exam at Levran’s home office in Farmington Hills Oct. 18.
It was alleged that, during the medical examination, Levran sexually assaulted his patient.
Levran has provided medical assistance to youth hockey organizations in Michigan and Minnesota for the past 20 years, according to a press release from the Farmington Hills Police Department.
In another release, the Farmington Hills Police Department announced that Levran was charged with multiple counts of CSC after new charges stemmed from investigations initiated by patients following the original arrest of Levran.
In each instance, it is alleged that Levran, while performing medical examinations at his home office, sexually abused his patient.
All the patients said that the examinations were in some way connected to youth hockey organizations, according to the release.
On Nov. 10, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office authorized 10 counts of criminal sexual conduct charges across four new criminal complaints:
One count of second-degree, one count of third-degree and eight counts fourth-degree CSC.
Levran surrendered himself to the Farmington Hills Police Department, where he was taken into custody.
On Nov. 11, Levran was arraigned before 47th District Court Magistrate Michael Sawicky.
He was represented by his personal counsel, attorney Joseph Lavigne, at the arraignment.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Levran.
Sawicky ordered the following bond conditions: $1 million cash/surety bond to be monitored by Pretrial Services; Levran must surrender all passports, have no contact with any victim, engage in no assaultive or threatening behavior, be affixed with a GPS tether prior to release, be subject to home confinement except for medical/legal/work purposes, have no unsupervised contact with any patients, and not treat any patient at his home.
A pre-exam conference is set for 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7 before 47th District Court Judge James Brady.
At press time, Lavigne could not be reached for comment.
