Stevenson girls, Romeo boys take Macomb County titles

At the Macomb County Championships on Oct. 12, Sterling Heights Stevenson used top-five finishes from Samantha Hanson and Allison Shannon to claim the girls team title with 78 points.
Gina Patterson, from Lutheran North, won the girls race with a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds.
“I’m very happy with my time. It was a good time, and I was just blessed to be able to keep running a strong time with this kind of competition and this kind of course, so it was good,” Patterson said.
Utica Eisenhower’s Samantha Allmacher finished second with a time of 19:21 to lead the Eagles to a third-place finish. Marah Pugh of Dakota took third overall in 19:26. Warren Regina was second overall and won the Division 2 title.
On the boys side, Alec Toreki (16:21) and Jacob Domagalski (16:44) led Romeo to the team championship with second- and fourth-place finishes, respectively.
Warren De La Salle’s Mickey Davey won the individual title with a time of 15:51.
In team competition, Romeo won with 75 points, Dakota took second with 83, Lakeview placed five runners in the top 30 to finish third with 93 points, Utica took fourth with 111 and De La Salle finished fifth with 143. Armada won the Division 2 title.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
