WRESTLING: 2014 MHSAA District tournament roundup - Macomb County

The following Macomb County and Macomb Area Conference teams battled their way to 2014 Michigan High School Athletic Association wrestling district titles in district tournaments Feb. 5 and 6.

Regionals will take place at 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at various sites. District title winners and their regional opponents are listed below.

Division 1

Warren De La Salle beat Roseville High in a district final and will wrestle Macomb Dakota at Dakota in a regional semifinal.

Utica Ford II knocked off Utica High in a district title match and will face Clarkston at Rochester High in a regional semi.

Fraser High beat Sterling Heights Stevenson in a district final and will match up with Grosse Pointe South at Dakota in a regional semifinal.

Grosse Pointe South bested St. Clair Shores Lakeview in a district title match and will square off with Fraser at Dakota in a regional semi.

Division 2

Warren Lincoln downed Warren Fitzgerald in a district title bout and will get Melvindale at Madison Heights Lamphere in a regional semi.

Warren Woods Tower knocked off Marysville to claim a district title and will battle Ortonville-Brandon at Yale in a regional semi.

Madison Heights Lamphere bested Hazel Park High in a district final and will wrestle the winner of a Farmington High district (results unavailable) in a regional semi at Lamphere.

Romeo Bulldogs

Romeo remained undefeated by defeating Macomb Dakota 26-14 in a Macomb Area Conference crossover that paired two of the top-ranked teams in Michigan. Romeo’s defense came into the game having surrendered just 13 points all season, and helped seal the win with a safety and interception return for touchdown by Brad Tanner in the fourth quarter. Romeo earned its first win against Dakota since 2010.
