Several Warren, Center Line wrestlers qualify for individual state finals

High schools in the city of Warren will be well represented at the 2014 Michigan High School Athletic Association individual state finals.

Several athletes from various programs in the city battled their way through individual regionals to qualify for the state finals, set for Feb. 27-March 1 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

In the team portion of the tourney, Warren Lincoln and Warren Woods Tower did battle in the Division 2 state quarterfinals after press time. Check for updates.

Listed are the grapplers who will compete for state champions in various divisions. Wrestlers earned their spots at The Palace with top-four finishes in regionals.

Farmington Hills Harrison

Farmington Hills Harrison earned the honor after beating Southfield High 17-14 at home in a battle for first place in the Oakland Activities Association White Division. The win put the Hawks 4-0 (4-1 overall) in the division, a game ahead of Southfield. After trailing 14-7 at the half, Harrison scored 10 unanswered points, capped off by a 27-yard field goal by Alex Bolstrum with 10:57 left in the game. In the last four meetings between these rivals, each team has won twice with a 4.5 average margin of victory.
