Lincoln, Tower, De La Salle wrestling teams win district titles

The Warren Lincoln wrestling team upended Warren Fitzgerald 53-20 to win a 2014 Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 district title in a district final Feb. 6 at Lincoln.
The Abes advance to a second straight regional tournament and will face the winner of a Dearborn Heights Annapolis district at 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at Madison Heights Lamphere. To advance to the district final, Lincoln downed Hamtramck, and Fitzgerald bested Center Line.
The Warren Woods Tower wrestling team advanced to a D-2 regional tournament by besting Marysville High 34-24 in a district final Feb. 6 at Marysville. Tower will wrestle the winner of an Ortonville-Brandon district in a regional semifinal bout set for 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at Yale High. Tower knocked off St. Clair Shores Lake Shore 63-10 to get to the district final, while Marysville beat St. Clair High to advance to the district title match.
The Warren De La Salle wrestling team upended Roseville High in a 2014 MHSAA D-1 district final Feb. 5 at Warren Cousino.
De La Salle, which captured its second straight district title, will face Macomb Dakota in a 2014 MHSAA D-1 regional semifinal set for 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at Dakota.
The Warren Cousino wrestling team fell 58-12 to Roseville in a D-1 district semifinal Feb. 5 at Cousino.
The Warren Mott wrestling team fell to Dearborn Fordson in a 2014 MHSAA D-1 district final Feb. 5 at Royal Oak High. The Marauders knocked off the University of Detroit Jesuit 40-37 to advance to the final.
Results of the Ortonville-Brandon and Dearborn Annapolis districts were unavailable at press time.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
