Chippewa Valley swim team wins Macomb County meet for fourth straight time

MACOMB TOWNSHIP — The Clinton Township Chippewa Valley girls swim and dive team proved to be the best in Macomb County again as the Big Reds won the 2013 Macomb County Swim and Dive championship.
The win was the fourth straight for Chippewa Valley in the county meet, which this year took place Oct. 3 and 5 at Macomb L'Anse Creuse North.
The Big Reds tallied 346 points to win the county meet. Utica Eisenhower placed second with 310, followed by Harrison Township L'Anse Creuse, which notched 242 points at the meet. Romeo High (194) and Utica Ford II (186) rounded out the top five.
Chippewa Valley athletes won four of 11 events, while Eisenhower swimmers won six of the other seven. The Big Reds won the event after having more athletes place higher in each eevnt.
Big Reds senior swimmer Skyler Muzichuk won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle. Chippewa Valley senior Sydney Ronald scored 428.95 points to win the diving competition. The Big Reds also won the 200-yard freestyle relay.

Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day
Thanks to two early scores, some lock-down defense, and a touchdown with just 5:25 remaining in regulation, the Beverly Hills Detroit Country Day football team picked up a 20-13 victory against Milan High in a Division 4 regional final on Nov. 14 and earned this week’s Team of the Week honor. Country Day, which had outscored its opponents 78-7 in the district round, advanced to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. The Yellowjackets (11-1) face Flint Powers Catholic (10-2) at 1 p.m. Nov. 21 at West Bloomfield High.
